...have one thing in mind: the antenna should "see" as much as possible of the sky. Glas or plastic in between might be OK, metal definitely is NOT! The more of the sky can be seen the better the receiption. There are 24 satellites around and most modern antennas are able to receive from up to 12 at the same time (if there are that many above you).
